CANNABIS OIL

20 Cannabis Oils Available

Whistler Medical Marijuana Corp offers the largest selection of organic Cannabis Oils of any licensed producer in Canada. To help you compare our oils we have created an interactive table that allows you to sort our products in a number of ways including by cannabinoid potency and strain type.

Use the table by clicking on the headings. For example, to view oils by the amount of CBD they contain, click on the CBD+CBDA header which will sort the oils in order of their CBD level. To view a more detailed laboratory analysis for each strain click on the strain name.

When reviewing our products it is important to note that Whistler Medical Marijuana Corp express our cannabinoid levels as the maximum THC (THC + THCA) and maximum CBD (CBD + CBDA) potentially contained in a product to account for the effects of decarboxylation. What is decarboxylation?

CANNABIS OIL INFORMATION

An Introduction to Cannabis Oil

Cannabis Oil is the term used to describe extracted resin from the cannabis plant that has been dissolved into a carrier oil to create a liquid. It is not suitable for use in vaporisers or for smoking, and is generally consumed under the tongue or used in cooking.

There are a number of ways that Cannabis Oil can be made. True to our Organic Philosophy, we do not use C02 or Butane, our process only uses ice, water and organic carrier oils and is designed to preserve as many of the cannabis terpenes as possible.

OUR INGREDIENTS

Organic Cannabis

Organic Coconut Oil

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The Equivalency Factor

Under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations when a Medical Document is written by a Health Care Practitioner, the amount of Cannabis prescribed must be expressed in grams per day of dried product. With the introduction of Cannabis oils, the way a Medical Document is written has not changed. Doctors are still required to express daily allowance in grams per day of dried product, even if the patient will be using Cannabis oil.

In order to create a system where oils can be provided to patients when the original prescription is expressed in grams of dried product, each Licensed Producer must provide an ‘Equivalency Factor’. This allows you to see how much oil you can purchase to be in line with your prescription and ensures that you do not go over your prescribed allowance.

For example, a 60ml bottle of Blueberry Lamsbread Cannabis Oil, which has an equivalency factor of 12ml of oil to 1 gram of dried cannabis, will use 5 grams of your allowance.

The equivalency factor is not designed to compare the effects of cannabis oil to dried cannabis, or provide dosage information. For many patients, consuming cannabis orally will produce much stronger effects than inhaling it. For example, when considering a product that has an equivalency factor of 12ml of oil to 1 gram of dried cannabis, and a patient who usually consumes 1 gram of dried product a day, this patient will likely use less than 12 ml of oil per day. Even for patients who have previous experience of using cannabis oil, it is recommend that you start with a low dose and go slow.

Answers To Common Questions About Cannabis Oil

1 - WHAT IS DECARBOXYLATION AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND ITS EFFECTS?

Decarboxylation is a chemical reaction that occurs when cannabis is heated. It is important to understand, as it can alter the effects of your product.

Normally cannabis products contain THCa and CBDa which when decarboxylated (for example through cooking or baking) are converted into THC and CBD. When it comes to your cannabis oil, this can increase the total amount of THC and CBD in your product.

Understanding decarboxylation is particularly important for patients wishing to preserve the levels of THCa and CBDa in their oils. Heating the oil is not recommended for these patients as it will decrease the levels of these cannabinoids and can cause them to become psychoactive.

2 - HOW DO I CONSUME CANNABIS OIL?

Cannabis oil can be eaten or taken under the tongue (for small doses). If eaten, cannabis oil can be swallowed alone, or added to your favorite foods such as smoothies or salads.

3 - CAN I COOK WITH CANNABIS OIL?

Yes, but remember that Cannabis oil is very concentrated so only use a small amount in your recipes. When cooking with Cannabis Oil it is important to note that temperatures over 350F can cause decarboxylation degrading THCa and CBDa, therefore if you are medicating using these Cannabinoids it is not recommended that you cook with the product. For more information about decarboxylation see WHAT IS DECARBOXYLATION AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND ITS EFFECTS?

4 - CAN I SMOKE OR VAPORIZE CANNABIS OIL?

No. Cannabis oil will not work in a vaporizer or smoking device. Our oils are created using a mixture of Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Coconut Oil which will damage smoking apparatus.

5 - HOW LONG WILL THE EFFECTS OF OIL LAST?

If eaten, cannabis oil will usually take between 30-90 minutes to start working. Peak effects occur around 2-3 hours and last up to 8 hours. If taken under the tongue the effects will occur within minutes and last 2-3 hours.

6 - HOW MUCH CANNABIS OIL SHOULD I TAKE?

Cannabis Oil can be more potent than Dried Cannabis, therefore when first using your oil remember to start low and go slow. We suggest starting out by trying 2-3 drops of oil at a time and seeing how it affects you. Remember that it can take up to 90 minutes to feel any effects.

7 - MY CANNABIS OIL HAS TURNED SOLID/CLOUDY, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The carrier oils used to create our products will solidify and go cloudy in cold temperatures. It is important to remember that this will not change the quality of the oil or alter its effects. If your oil has turned solid or gone cloudy, place the sealed bottle in a container of hot water until it melts and then mix thoroughly by inverting the bottle 5-10 times.

8 - HOW SHOULD I STORE MY CANNABIS OIL?

Cannabis oil should be stored in a cool place out of direct sunlight. It can be kept in the fridge or freezer for long term storage, however the oil will solidify at cold temperatures and will need to be warmed before it can be used, please see question #6 .

9 - WERE ANY TOXIC SOLVENTS OR CHEMICALS USED TO MAKE THE OIL?

No. Our Cannabis Oil is created without the use of toxic solvents or chemicals.
